For more than 30 years, Communities In Schools has been helping students achieve in school, graduate and go on to bright futures. Its mission is to surround students with a community of support, empowering them to stay in school and achieve in life.
The infographic below shows the model that Communities In Schools uses in order to create and welcome partnerships between those in the community and schools. Community schools deliberately and actively partner with local businesses, social service agencies, health care providers and volunteers. Whether it’s food, school supplies, health care, counseling, academic assistance or a positive role model, Communities In Schools and other community schools bring these resources together to improve opportunities for children.
The National Human Services Assembly and its members, including Communities In Schools, understand that learning doesn’t just take place in the classroom; in fact, opportunities and resources found in the community only enhance and improve a child’s opportunity for success and positive outcomes in school and life. If you’re interested in learning more about and supporting federal policies that support community schools, check out a great rundown of federal policies from another member of the National Human Services Assembly, the Coalition for Community Schools.
